MOTOR-CYCLING.
NOTES. Owing to the bad state of the Peninsula roads last week the Pioneer Sports Club was unable to hold its motor-cycle and side-ear reliability trial. The trial has been postponed to a date not yet decided.
On May 2nd the Pioneer Sports Club will hold a further motor-cycle reliability re-trial over Banks Peninsula to decide the winner. This will mark the third occasion on which the trial has been held.
IT. Opperman's attempt on the Australasian paced hour track record was a brilliant success. Paced by B. Finlay on a motor-cycle on the Melbourne motordrome, the Australian road champion succeeded in cru muring 53 miles 053 yards into the hour, a slashing performance considering the fact that Opperman had the bad Hick to pv.nc.ture, mid by the time he got going again he had lost 02 seconds, the equivalent to about another lj miles. But for this incident he would have got very close to ", mik-3 in the hour. His fastest lap —;-, third of :i mile—was negotiated at the rate of 3SA mile:; per hour.
