At the trial of Frank Withers, for tho murder of his wife o-t Kingston, N.8.W., accused pleaded not guilty. In a statement, he said h r s wife was guilty of misconduct with Edward Misscn, for tvhora she v.crkoj. lie said on the night of the tragedy he went xo see his wife at Missen'a house, and as Misscn previously had threatened to shoot him. ho took a revolver for prot?ction. "While talking to his wife, she l>'».m|)e:l the revolver, wliich exploded, killing her. The jury returned a verdict of manslaughter under intense provocation, and "Withers was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment.
