FOOD REFORM.
A farewell lecture on the objects of the Tood Reform League was given by Br. 11. T. J. Thacker in the Jellicoe.Hall last night. Dr. Thacker is leaving to-day on a holiday trip to ATnoricn, At" the opening of his lecture lie gave an account of tho tour which ho was about to undertake, and he said that it was only an early election which would prevent him from visiting Ireland. "I'm going as a missionary of the green leaf," he said. In speaking on the question of diet, Dr. Thacker said that the principal thing to be remembered was that only one food should be eaten at one time. He advocated a diet of fruit, and said that the green leaf was merely a symbol of the objects of the Food Reform League. One food at a time and getting back to the simple foods' should be the endeavour of all. Faulty dieting resulted in an accumulation of poison in the system, and • this poison in the end resulted in cancer. Cancer was a twenty-five year journey down tho road of off-colour. It was caused by a degeneration of the indlvKhlat, which resulted.principally through a lack of vitamins. Ho suggested that one " way to get a good supply of fruit would be to have the frozen meat ehjps carrying, fruit on their return trips to .t\ow Zealand. "Cease smoking," said the speaker, "and, if you don't smoke, don't sit near those who do." „ . . . During the evening Dr. Thacker and Mr J. JR.-. Deveieux were presented .wifh miniature gold leaves as acknowledgments of the work they had done for the Food' Beform League.
