OAMARU, April 22.

A two-seater motor-car went over a 130-foot bank between Kurow and Omarama, sixty miles from Oamaiu, at 7 a.m. to-day, and as a result Olivo Rutherford, 18 years of age, is lying at Kurow in a critical condition, au4 Philip Hudson, aged 20 years, has disappeared. The • latter is a son of Mr Arthur Hudson, of Dunedin, aud is engaged to Miss Rutherford, who is on the staff of the Otago Farmers' Union, Dunedin,

The couple were motoring to. Mr Philip Hudson's brother's station at Omarama. The cause of the accident is not known, but the ear fell the full distance over the cliff. Tho girl was found lying on a'ledge, some distance below the road, but there was no sign of tho young man in tho vicinity of the wrecked car. It is surmised that ho wandered away in a dazed condition.

Search parties were out all day, but no news has been reported here up till midnight.

Miss Butherford was removed tp Kurow, where she was attended by Dr. Watt. Her condition is critical.
