Hen's singles and doubles matches will be the best of three straight sets. All other matches, the best of 17 games. The various rounds shall be played on the dates assigned for them. In the event of a'.postponement on account of inclement weather or otherwise, the matches bo postponed'shall be played either ''in between" Saturdays, or at the end of the draw. All matches should commence not later than 1.30 p.m.
EXPENSES OF PLAYERS.

Vyzcc, of India, for iho same reasons as in tho caso of B. D. Helmore, whoso temporary suspension in connexion with tho team ho took to Paris lust autumn was extended to the end of tho year. The action against HclmoN* was a result of tho Association's decision regarding tho expenses and hotel iocs. All 'tho other players, including Von Braun, Hajgs, Jacob and A. ix. li'yzee, received notices intimating that penalties may bo inflicted unless they xeveak-d in detail tho hotel expenses paid by the Paris ,Club and deposited thejr proportion thereof. ■ I<\ M. B. Fisher, a New Zealandcr, describes tho suspension of Jacob and Fyzee aa precipitato and' tactless. He beliovc3 Association meinbors roceivo most liberal expenses when travelling abroad on tennis business. The ' expenses embargo might be extended .to embrace Davis Cup players, whoso full expenses are paid without the playera being adjudged professionals... The rules of amateurism differed most widely in football, cricket, and lawn tennis. ;• The time for a general settlement had > been reached, instead of subjecting players to the governing body's caprice and bureaucratic methods.
The Association has, decided that British playcra bo now allowed to compete in tournaments held in countries affiliated, to the International Tennis Federation,;! irrespective of tho nationality of tho players competing. Tho resolution excluding ex-enemy players•from competing in • open, tournaments in, Great Britain'rbmadns in'-force.' ' •*
[On March'lßth-the- Lawn-Tennis Association decided that any player accepting a reduction of more than 40 per,cent, on-tho ordinary charges made in hotels and. similar establishments in connexion ..with playing the. game at any tournament, match, or competition wouid| farlfoit his •amaltau.r status. For breaches in this direction while visiting Paris under the management of Mr Helmore, who was suspended,- the playerß -mentioned were called upon to. reveal the amount of their hotel expenses, together with the amount paid by the Paris Club.]
