A 1,000,000,000 candle-power revolving lighthouse at Montafriquej near Dijon, was lighted for the first time to-night. It is intended to assist the aeroplane service between Paris and Algiers. "When the weather is clear the rays will be visible within a radius of 500 miles, including Brussels, Dieppe, Lille, Milan and Frankfurt. The lighthouse cosb 1,500,000 francs, and is seventeen times more brilliant than the 60,000,000 candle-power lighthouse at New Jersey.
