METHVEN A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting' of tho cornniitt-eo of the Mothven A. and P. Association was held on Monday evening. Tho president, Mr It. J. Low, occupied the chair, and there werealso present—Messrs Alex. Geddes, R. N. Elliott, Jan. Campbell, A. T. Lille-y, H. J. Freeman, C. Hale, John Watson, J. H. Stone, Geo. Kelly, E. A. Bland, A. F. Mafr, S. G. Holmes, J. R. Dalton. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Jas. Carr, H. Green, 11. E. Jeßsep, Hy. Maginness. Tho president reported that they had had difficulty in securing a. judge for the Asso ciation's stacking competition, and after giving the matter full consideration tho subcommittee had appointed fivo committeemen to act as judges. Their notion in the matter was approved. . • • A letter was received from tno» itoyal Agricultural Society of New Zealand advising that the subscription was due, and asking that two members of the Association be appointed to represent it at the Society's Show. Messrs Jas. Campbell and Jno. "Watson were appointed. Letters were received from a. number of donors of special prizes to the annual show, asking that their special prizes be used-as the Association thought best. Mr F. E. Ward, Instructor in Agriculture, wrote advising that the date suggested for judging the field roots competition, May 11th, was a. auitablo one, and that ho would A letter was received from Messrs Sruallbone Bros., of Aehburton', offering to plough the new Show Grounds with one of their tractors free of cost to the Association provided that tho work was done within a fortnight. It was decided to thank Messrs Smallbone Bros., and to aocept their offer, subject to euitablo arrangements being made with the lessors of the ground. A letter was received from Mr B. McNamara, Rakaift, giving valuable information in connexion with the running of ploughing matches, and enclosing programme and "rules of their last competitions. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr U&ssey, Prime Minister, in his serious 11lIn referenco to the conveyance of the judse for the annual field roots competition, Mr R J T,ow r.ffoTeH the y> of his car to motor the judge from Rakaia to Methven. Tho following were appointed stewards for the competition for the first dav: -Messrs S G. Holmes, C. Hale, and A. T. Lilley, and for the second dav, Messrs Jas. Campbell, Jno. Watson, H. J. Freeman, and Hy. Maginness.
