An Italian professor, Signor Mouneret, engaged in excavations near Assouan, has unearthed a church belonging to the monastery of St. Simeon, dating from the eighth century, also a large quantity of papyri and a valuable collection of Coptic pottery. This find should throw light upon the history of the Middle Ages.'
