ASSISTANCE FOR UNEMPLOYED
SOLDIERS,
Arrangements for Poppy Day, to be observed to-morrow, haro been completed, and as a large number of ladies have undertaken to assist in the sate of poppies in aid of the Returned Sol» diers' Association's • Unemployment Fund it is fully anticipate#! that the results this year will eclipse those of last ye^r. Zest will l*c imparted' into the efforts of the ladies as they are anxious to recover the flag, presented by Guerin, the "poppy lady of France," which is held by the Centre in the Dominion that tojiS the list' of' contributions received on Poppy Bay. In 1923 the Christchureh ladies had . the honour of winning the coveted flag, and this year they hope to regaih it from last year's winners. The fallowing women's organisations, in addition* to a. number of prominent women workers for the returned soldiers, will assist m the sale of poppies tomorrowW.C.T.U., Niivy "League,. Victoria League, Harbour Lights, Cambrian Society, . Canterbury Women's Club, and the Canterbury Branch of the Now Zealand Overseas Women War Workers. -
Mrs. H. T. J. Thacker is president of the Ladies' Committee in connexion with Poppy Day, and Mrs J. I?,. Evans is secretary. The Central I)epofc in connexion "with the appeal will bo the White Star Motor Service Board Itoolm. (formerly the Progress League's meeting room), Cathedral square.
