TTMEETING OF COUNCIL,
The Council of Christian Congregations met last night, Archdeacon Haggitt presiding.Tho Rev. J. J. North reported that at the last meeting it had been stated that the Tramway Board had not replied to the protest about the noise of traffic during Church services. The Board had evidently met on the same night as the Council, for the newspapers had published a repoyt in which the Board made a suggestion that notice boards should be erected near churches affected by the noise. This was "a particularly inane" suggestion, for the boards would only be operative on one day of the week, bnt the Board had desired its own drivers to.be as quiet as possiblc - • T, C The Howard Board for Prison Reformation wrote asking a representative of the Council to be present at a conference to discuss the care of people discharged from prisons. Mrs E. R. Roberts was appointed to attend.
The Rev. T. Sargison read a paper on "War, Pacificism, and Christianity."
