At to-night's meeting of iho Timaru Borough Council, a letter was received from the Rakaia Friendly Societies' Picnic Committee stating that their picnic waa being held ■principally for the benefit of all the schools in their district. It was decided, therefore, that tho picnic should be treated as a school picnic and hot water and milk supplied free. With regard to the Railway Department's excursions from Cbmtchuroh, tho District Traffic Manager wrot« asking the Council to reconsider the <niestion of supplying: hot water to excursionists.
