TIMARU. Social and Personal. Miss Muriel Adams (Auckland) is the guest, of Mrs C'. A. Paterson (Sefton street >. Miss Lassie Sams, who was staying with Mrs A. A. Scott (Bidwill street), returned to Christchurch yesterday. Mr and Mrs J. A. Stack (Styx) and Mrs'F. Hamilton are the guests of Mrs R. Temple (Castlewood, Geraluine). Miss Ransom (Wai-iti road't is visiting Mrs F. Bradshaw (Waimate). Mr G. Godfrey, Under-Secretary of Marine, spent the week-end in Timuru. and left yesterday for Wellington. The Weather. The spell of fine weather which set in last week continued over the weekend,'which was fine and warm, and conditions appear settled. The crops arc looking verv well, and prospects for a good season are bright. Even should there be very little more rain during the summer, 'it is understood that the reservoirs supplying water to Timaru are well tilled, and the rationing of water for gardening purposes, which caused so much inconveuience last summer, will not again be necessary.
