BY-ELECTIONS IN CORK. GOVERNMENT SUCCESSES. (BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPIHIGH?) (itEUTER'S TSLE3HAHS.) LONDON, November 21. llichael Egan, Government Party candidate, obtained a substantial majority at the Cork City by-eloetion for the Dail, polling 27,021 votes against the Lord Mayor, Mr French (Republican), who secured 14,703 votes. The East Cork scat wis also won by the Government Party, whoßO candidate, M. L. Noonan, had 17,717 votes. Michael Walsh (Republican) had 12,399. Mr W. T. Cosgrave, President of the Executivo Council, who is ill, has resigned the Ministry of Defence, which he has held since the resignation of General Muleahy. The Dail adopted Mr Coagrave's nomination of Mr Peter Hughes, member for Louth, as Defence Minister.
