MOTORCYCLE RODEO.
GOOD SPORT AT ASHBURTON. The Ashburton Motor-cycle Club, hold a successful rodeo in the local Domain on , Saturday. The weather was ideal, and' there | tvas a large attendance of spectators. The entries in each event were good, several riders from the Pioneer Club making the irip to participate in the sports. The First "Canterbury Mounted Rifle Band was in attendance, and considerably added to the pleasure of the day, playing a fine'selection of music. The Motor-cycle Club very generously devoted the proceeds of the meeting | to tho First CanterVu ry Mounted Rifle Band fund. The supervision of the events reflected great credit upon the club secretary, Mr H. Taylor. Mr P. Cookson officiated aa I timekeeper and Mr R. Stock was announcer. [ The programme comprised twelve events, while thrilling games of football and hockey by teams of five riders a-aide, including sidecar riders as goal-keepers, kept the public in a state of excitement throughout the events. The following were the res;'lts» with the number of competitors in parentheses:— Serpentine Race, Solo (10) —R. _TVilson (Ashburton), H. Dyer (Christchurch!, and C. Campbell tied with 19sec e.-.ch, and in the run-off C. Campbell secured first place in 19sec, R. "Wilson 2, and H". Dver 3. . Serpentine Race, Side-car (8) —E. Healey (Ashburton) 1, R. TV.
