MOTORING.
mai&borough association. (spicitr. to "iH3 ra*Sß.") BLENHEIM,: November 23. The Marlborough Automobile Association appointed Mr. L. Chaytor dei&gate .to tlie quarterly meeting of the South Island Motor Union, to be held at Christchurch on Thursday next, and failing him ; the Union is to be asked to appoint, a delegate to represent Marlborough. Judging from what was said at a meeting of the Marlborough Automobile Association, the stock straying nuisance on the Main South road has become a rather serious matter. Members who have traversed the road lately complained strongly, and it was stated that the trouble was particularly acute on that portion of the road between the Clarence and Hapuku rivers. The stock ha'd become quite inured to traffic and no amount of horn-blowing would disturb their possession of the highway, so' that in many cases cars had to be stopped aqd the animals, driven off the road. Some members eaid they had-been informed that the Kaikoura County Council had let the grazing rights over all the land between tho road and the sea in the vicinity mentioned," and while tbe lessee had fenced the land in some places, large portions were unfenoed. The secretary was instructed to write to the County Council enquiring into the position.
