tion, with the exception of a number of minor alterations, were adopted, and black and whito were selected as the Association colours. / After a discussion upon the strength of teams, it was decided that four players should constitute both ladies' and men's teams. It was decided to amend the residential qualifications to a county one. A rule Was framed providing that any substitute having played more than two A grade matches automatically attains the status of an A grade player, such player to be regraded only by the consent of tho Management Committee. Sports Association. A meeting of the committee of the Ashburten Sports Association was held last night, Mr E. Partridge presiding. Tho Borough. Council advised that the use of the Domain Oval had been granted to the Hornby School Committee on December 20th, and the United Friendly Societies on January 31st, 1D25.
With reference to the deputation which had waited on the Borough Council, the town clerk advised that the Council could not agree to cricket being played on the oval during a picnic, on account of the danger, while tho Association'B offer of £l2O assessments would be accepted, and free water could not be supplied to the Ashburton Cricket Club.
The chairman reported that Mr F. Pritchard, on behalf or the Ashburton Cricket Club, had stated a very good case, but unfortunately the councillors could not seo their way clear to grant the request. He considered that the Association should make further representations to the Council regarding the matter.
Mr E. 11. Biggar stated that they should send another deputation to the Council, but it might bo beneficial if they wrote to that body. There was a large number of people who thought that the Council was putting the Domain oval to misuse in catering for visitors, and it -was regarded that tho sports bodies were not being fairly treated. Mr C. G. Andrewa moved, and Mr H M. Scott seconded, that a further letter be sent to the Council, pointing out the disadvantages under which the Cricket Club was labouring in outside picnic parties being granted the nee of the oval on Saturdays, and asking that the outside parties be allotted other grounds. The motion was carried unanimously. The Ashburton Football SubAssociation's request for the use of further grounds was granted, provided the school football was not interfered with, and the size of the ground was not altered.
