CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA CLUB. The annual report of the Christchurch Re; g&ttz Club fltatfes that the club is in a very sound position after three veiy successful seasons. The season commenced with a jnemi . bership. of 106, and the. total': membership now .stands, at 97. The net surplus "bf the club is £94. 9s. Id. The annual regatta, held at Lake Forsyth in. January, has been very successful, and was well supported by the various clubs. ELLESMERE CLUB. ■ Mr T. H. Overton presided over & meeting of the Ellesmere Aquatic Club, when the programme was drawn up for the annual regatta on New Year's Day. ■The president reported that a deputation from the club had met Sir Heaton Rhodes, who had promised to do what he could in the matter of acquiring a recreation ground which would, face .the lake, and be used by the club. The Minister of Lands was making enquiries from his Department, but so far nothing definite had been received. The meeting decidfed not to erect temporary buildings, on the ecore of expense. The whole programme of events was revised, and it was agreed to include in the motor-boa*- events a four-mile race. A rule was added that any motor-boat which had not competed last year should declare its time over a two-mile course, and in the event of the declared time being beaten by over, 20 seconds to the mile*, the boat be disqualified. It was decided to call tenders for tfio right to sell sweets, fruit, and soft drinks, and for a luncheon booth and hot water. A donation was received from Sir Henton Rhodes, who intends to visit the regatta if circumstances permit.
