ANNUAL SPORTS.
NORTH CANTERBURY SCHOOLS. The second .annual- sports meeting of ■prim.u'y schools north of tho Waimakariri, .was. held yesterday on tho . Rangiora. Show Grounds. The weather was fine, and quite a large gathering of parents from all over the district' was present. The schools wero divided into two, grades, and B. The former for schools of over 100, and B- for schools under that number. Besides the prizes for the winner of each event,"a, silver cup was presented by Dr. Ramsey, of Kaiapoi, for tho the school gaining tho. most points in Grade A, and Mr H. D. Rodgers, of Waiau, presented a silver cup for tho school gaining moat points iii Grade' B. There , were fifteen schools, represented, with ovev 800 competitors, and it was estimated there were ] 600 children"present. Tho'Oust, Amber',ey, Ashley, and Loburn schools were not represented'. Tho secretarial <lutie3 wero carried out by. Mr T. A. Morland (Kaiapoi), and the teachers of tho different schools assisted materially in tarrying through ' the long programme of events. Mr BV A. McKeown (llangiora) was' supervisor. Tho A grade cup was won by Kaiapoi, and the B grade resulted in a tie between Waikuku and Waiau, with 30 points each. Tho results wore:— . .
