MASON'S FLAT SCHOOL PICNIC.
10 THE EDITOR' OF "THE PRESS." Sir,—l would like to trespass on your space to vent a grievance in respect of the. annual picnic of the Masoii.'s Flat School. It seems a shame that the committee should be so short-sighted in that they go practically to the.same paddock year after year; that same paddock- being but a few hours' walk from the school. It seems to be arranged- more for the adults than the' children, in that they fill the cars, and the little ones have to go.there,in drays and waggons. This being one of the wealthiest districts in Canterbury, it seems only fitting that the children should go further . .afield, where they can . enjoy; selves like the children in, other dis; " tricts. If they went to the seaside or the beautiful Botanic Gardens of Christchurch I' feel sure they would appreciate it a great deal more than a paltry farmyard picnic. Hoping . some abler, pen than mine will take the matter up arid' endeavour to give i the children a decent picnic away from the country for one day in the year. — Yours, etc., ; , . OLD PUPIL. .
