MISSIONARIES WELCOMED.
■ ■ fy SALVATION ARMY FUNCTION. Staff Captain and Mrs Ludbrook, of the Salvation Army, who . have come to New Zealand on furlough from China, were officially weclomed by members' of: the Christchurch Salvation Army yesterday. Captain Ludbrook, whoso home is in London,...has been a missionary in Northern China for seven year 3, and Mrs Ludbroolc, who was born in New Zealand, has worked in the same mission, field for eight years. They are both spending a nine months' holiday in the Dominion, and' yesterday afternoon received an informal welcome from, tho officers cf the local staff. Last evening they received a public reception at the Citadel. Major Wallace, Divisional Commander, presided over a good attendance, •' and welcomed the visitors. Speeches of welcome were also made by Commandant Gibb3, on behelf of the Christchurch City-Corps; Envoy W. Andrew, on behalf of the male portion of the Corps, and Treasurer Meadows, for the Bisters. Captain and Mrs Ludbrook responded. ■ ' The musical portion of last night's programme included items by the band, the songsters, and junior einfeing company. Captain Ludbrook also provided a concertina solo.
