WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.
'- • A meeting of the "Waimakariri Harbour Board was, held a,', Kaiapoi yesterday. Present : Messrs J. J. Matthews (chairman), H. C. Kevell, H. M. Anderson, J Fleming, L. D. Evans, T. R. Leithead, and Ji. B. Millton. '•■,,'■■, Correspondence was received from. the Hon. D. Buddo, M.P., enclosing copy of tue Waimukariri Harbour District ana Empowering Amendment Bill as recently passed by Parliament. ■ It was resolved that the list of payments to be made by local authorities in the Harbour District in connexion with the larger area, Be completed as 6oon as possible, and that copies be forwarded to Uie local bodies concerned, and also to members of the Board. ~.,,, The harbourmaster reported that the average depth of, water on the bar was from eight to nine feet, according -to <the height of the tides. The bar was very wide, and during the last three months had gone about" 300 yds farther south. The north spit had been completely altered By heavy easterly seas rolling in and taking two to three feet of sand off it into the river. ; It was resolved that the thanks of: the Board be extended 'to the Hon. D. Buddo and Mr G. W. Forbes, M.P.'s, for the trouble they had taken in fathering the Amendment Bill during its passage through.
