H. E. HOLLAND ON THE BRITISH ELECTIONS.
' TO : THK EDITOR 0? "THE PBTSSS." Sir,—To be able to extract satisfaction from defeat is one of the accomplishments of the New Zealand Labour Leader, who, in the. "N.Z.' Worker" of 12th inst.j states that ho is "not the least dismayed at the result of tho ; British elections," and that "it- would be "found that Labour had enormously increased its.totality of votes," while further on we are told, "A most substantial advance has been -made by. Labour." It is in this fashion the football supporter discounts the defeats' sustained by*' his' 'p'et. club',- arguing that, though defeated, ■ his club had the best of the play, but the averago man smilingly.' retorts, "Yet you lost the game."/'.Ana. lost the game .cer tainly was for Labour; the! combined forces arrayed against it being altogether too much for it, though in New Zealand, at least, such a'combination has .been advocated by official Labour for-.many a <3>y. We may now hear less hero in future about Labour'c desire to. see Reformers and Liberals amalgamating; though it is a foregone conclusion that in this Dominion we will coon have two political parties only—Labour on the'one hand, and on the other, those who. are , opposed to revolutionary methods. —Yours, etc., • HOUSEHOLDER. November. 18th, 1924.
