CONDITIONS OF CONTEST. Tie principal conditions for. ih» Pioneer Sports Club's motor-cycle petrol teat, to be held to-morrow week, are as follows; Koute—Leave- comer' of Selwyn "street and Hazeldear; road, proceed along Hazeldean road to. Durhs-m. street, iheiice- south a-IcntT Durham 6ireet to street, thence ea&i.io.Colombo street, thence south to foot of hills, thence up Deer's Pass road to Duff's store, thence down Hacithorna road,- thence west along foot of Hills to* Hoon Hay road, thence north along. Hoon. flay read to Lincoln road, thence along Lincoln road .to Ha;e!dean rc£d, and " continue 'over same course, except that alter the first time round instead of going up Dyer's Pass road and down Hack thorn's road'take road alone-' -Foot of hills. ' .
The result of iht test wiH' be determined as follows:' —Each • competitor in his class will be given the same amount of petrol, and' will carry, the same weight (which includes . weight of'outfit and rider,' and' any dead-weight ■ necessary- to bring 'weight up to that allotted) accordinng to the following schedule—Class, under 350 c.c, weight, 42>lbpetrol allowance, 6oz; 350-500 c.c. weight', ■4341b; petrol allowance, Bcz; 500-750 c.c, weight, 4991b; petrol allowance,. lOoz; oyer 750' c.c, .weight," sS9lb; petrol allowance, 120,2. - ■ :
I The competitor who coders the greatest distance in hi 3 'class will be the. winner in his [class. 'Any competitor pushing his machine [ after it.once stops will be,disqualified. >'o _compeftitor will be allowed io use a I'short'cut on the journey. Any competitor I having, broken sea'a will .Tae; disqualified. Any I competitor foand assisting his machine with I hi 3 feet or running alongside will be dis--1 qualined, traffic stops and tyre troubles excepted; his machine etops for want of petrol, a competitor must place his j machine on the side of the roa'd and wait j till the arrival of the official car. All machines will be observed, and no outside ' pacing will be allowed; and if competitor i permiits outsiders to. accompany him he will I be liable to disqualification. Competitors mu6t maintain a speed of not ■ less than 12 miles per hour over the journey, un'ess delayed by tyre troubles, for I which a total of 20-minutes is allowed. Each j cempeti* or .will. be supplied with a special, tin to be used, instead of petrol tank for [ the purpose of the test. A charge of. 5s will, he 'made for. each tin, which will be [ refunded if tin is returned in good order. In ' case of four-etroke engines no attach-' ment will be allowed between the crankcase, ard carburettor, otherwise competitor will be disqualified. Petrol and oil tanks j and crank cases must be emptied, arid, no petrol or oil must be.carried other than that supplied by the club for the test. Big Tree motor spirit and Castrol C oil will be supI plied U> competitors. - Except in the case of four-cylinder, machines whicb. shall be allowed 1002, all. machinc3 will be allowed 3oz ' of oil. plus half the quantity of petrol allowed. . Other than hot , air pipes no ■ extra fitments to the carburettor, will .be .allowed, otherwise competitor will be disqualified. Not less than three placed competitors in each class will be weighed on completion of. tH.e test, and any competitor with outfit being l r more than 51b underweight will be disqualified. These competitors after ' being weighed must then proceed to Mr A. Moreland's Garage, to have engine examined internally by mechanics appointed for the.purpose. Any competitor having mechanical stops will be disqualified. Any competitor unable' to etart his. engine in order to drain his carburettor when aaied to do so by official appointed for the purpose, will be given' enough petrol itb -fill carburettor. If stilt unable to start,, he willbe disqualified.' Any competitor starting ■his engine after being taken charge of by the officials, unless asked to do bo .by an official, will be disqualified. The Awards Committee, Messrs C. Bonnington, W. G. Tbnks,' and A. Morelandy will meet one hour after the conclusion of the event, and protest*, if any, must be in their hands within that time, and will be duly, considered.. AJI protests and appeals to be accompanied by a •deposit of 10s, to be returned or not at the discretion of the General Committee. The Awards Committee reserve the. right to Vary or "annul these conditions should -necessity arise, provided eUch alterations are made 24 hours before the contest commences, and competi- 1 tors to be notified., . .... ■ ■
