——♦ — '■ — PAPANUI. The Papanui Burgeßßes' Association met laslt night,-Mr S. E. McCarthy presiding. The Minister of Health wrote acknowledging receipt of a copy of a resolution passed by the Association, drawing tha attention of the local governing authorities concerned to the insanitary state of the district and other suburbs, and asking the Health Department to compel the local authorities to put tho suburbs concerned in a. sanitary condition Ho wished to Eitate that instructions had been issued to the Medical Officer of Health, Christchurch, to maxo the necessary investigations and forward a ro{ort concerning the eanitary state of the area in question, and the sanitary works therein. He would give the matter due consideration and when the full facts wero at his disposal be would advise of the intention of tho Department in the matter. The letter was received. . The Woolston Burgesses' Association wiote in connexion with the same matter, advising that it would take no action. The letter waa received. It was decided to write to the Town Gler* asking for an explanation of the delay m the 'laying out of the Papanui Park. It «u stated that the rails vrere well above tho roal level. It was decided itiat tho City Councils attention be drawn to the inadequate lighting- of Ingmire street. ' _ It was decided to write to lite City Council drawing its attention to the bad state of a, section of.the footpath on the north, aid* oi Horner street. ' It was decided that the City Council b* requested to give effect to the proposals affecting Papanui in the water supply loanIt was decided to write to the City Council requesting information as to the Kai - way, Department's granting permission for tie construction of a footpath from Church street to the pari.
