OPERATOR SNATCHED FROM DEATH. (BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COPTIHGHTI (AUSTRAUAN AMD K.Z. CABLE ASffOCIATIOX.) (Received November. lSth, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, November 17. There was a thrilling cinema episode of real life at the Imperial Picture House, Kilmrtrnock. Mi* Maclean, the operator, suddenly found the film burning;. Ho was trapped amid a swirling torrent of flame, threatening shocking death. Ho tried to put out the' flames until ho fell unconscious. Meanwhile the pnblio got safely out of tho building. Firemen were able to confine thoir efforts to tho operator's box «nd the rewinding room. Climbing into the fiery box, o, fireman picked up tho unconscious man, thrust him through the projection hole, and clampered back himself.
Maclean's father was badly burnt in attempting to rescue the operator. Littlo harm wwa done to tho building.
