COUNTY COUNCILS
OXFORD. At the monthly meeting of the Oxford County Council there were present—Crs. E. W. Meyer (chairman), J. McGrath, T. C. Horn, A. Meyers, R. F. Henderson, T. Powell, and H. F. Luer3. The monthly report, which was adopted, stated that, QSO yards of shingle had been put on B-urnthill road; work had been continued on Black bridge; a:;d fords repaired, but had been washed away again. It was resolved to pay Gd a dozen for blackbirds' and thrrjihes'. eggs, and 3d per dozen for small birds' eggs. The clerk was instructed to write and ask the Domain Board if it would accept part of the gravel pit -adjoining the Domain for the purpose of planting native trees and shrubs. It was left with Cr. Powell and the clerk to inspect the drain on Summerhill road. Tho clerk was instructed to write the Waimakariri River Trust nud ask if the Trust would set aside a place in the Eyre riverbed for the purpese of rubbish pits. It was decided to ask the Trust to inspect the river at the bridge and at T. Doody's. It wag decided to c=k Mr S. Smith to etop persons lighting fires in the Ashley Gorge Domain except in the fireplaces provided ; also to park the cars.
A letter was received from Mr Watson regarding- planting trees at the Ashley Gorge Domain. It was left with the clerk to arrange a day for a visit to the Gorge, Mr to be invite'd.
