At Khartoum, the Mudirs Court sentenced twenty-eight civilian cadets, who participated in the disorders m the military school on August 9th, to eight yeans' imprisonment. So far there has been no sign, of disturbances, though the sentences are widely known.
Five men in a motor-car drove up to the Stephen's Green (Dublin) branch of the Bank of Ireland. Four of them entered, held up the staff with revolvers, collected -filGOtt, and escaped. None was disguised.
A Tokyo message says that a Communist named Namba, who attempted to assassinate the Eegent, Prince Hirohito, was hanged on Saturday.
The latest of a series, of daring burglaries attributed to a maR known as "the cat burglar," on account of his methods, was discovered on Saturday. The thief had scaled the front of a house in Kensington during the night, entered a. bedroom through the open window, and stolen*"jewellery valued at £3OOO while the occupants were sleeping a few feet away. TBe .police latelyhad been keeping a sjecial watch in the West End for the thief, who apparently iu a skilled climber, his method always being the.same.
. The "Sunday, Express" points out that if Mr Lloyd George becomes leader of the Parliamentary Party, Mr Asouith will still be leader of- the party throughout the .country. It is stated Mr Lloyd George provided £50,000 for election purposes out of the National Liberal fund. He was asked for £IOO,OOO, in which case the Liberals could have run fi|©j hundred instead of three hundred''candidates.
Sir "W. Arrpl and Co*, have issued « writ claiming damages • against Mr Ball .{Minister of Works),; Mr "W. "W. Cooper (Under-Secretary for Works), and Ihv Bradfield, engineer and designer of the North Shore Bridge, in respect of alleged' libel contained in the report of Dr. Bradfield to the Minister bearing upon the steel which Arrol and Co: -proposed »to use-.in-'the construction of the bridge.
