. .—. —s_ . ■ Tho usual monthly meeting of members of the Cambrian Society of Canterbury was held on Saturday evening.at Caio Cecil. The meeting tcck the form of a, social, the programme for -which had been arranged by tho Ladies' Committee. After the singing of 'the Welsh. National Anthem, Mr J. W. Bowden, on behalf ofs?the members, welcomed back Mrs F.: W. Jones on her first appearance after returning from the United States. The president (Mr. F. W. Jones) conducted tho proceedings, and an excellent programme of .musical ,and elocutionary items was contributed by Mesdameo James, Caygill, Misses Pollard and Bowden, Messrs Long, 0. ~R. Jones, and J. Morgan Davies. .''•'■.'
The president took : the opportunity -of wel■coming to .the.-Society Mr and Misses Williams, late of Maronan, Hinds, who have now taken' permanent residence in Christ-, church. "Mr. Williams suitably responded, and said that, as a Welshman, he "was pleased to identify himself with ' the Weieb. Society. . ~ ':'.'.' • ;
A very interesting series of .progressive games, organised by Mrs Hamber, caused much diversion. Prizes for successful participants, given by Mesdamea Rogers and Bowden, were won by Mrs F. W. Jones and Mr J. M. Davies. It was decided that the choir resume practices next Saturday-, evening for nest year's St. David's.Day' celebrations.
