LONDON, November 13. The Clydeside rent strike has taken a complicated turn.

The sheriff, by a surprise raid in the absence of the tenants' scouts on Wednesday, carried out seven evictions. Sympathisers during the night restored six of the occupants with the whole of their belongings. The owners of the premises have now begun proceedings for house-breaking. Meanwhile, the tenants have organised a brigade of cyclist scouts to frustrate further attempts at eviction.

Tho Glasgow correspondent of the "Daily Herald'' reports that landlords- are angry over the evictions, and intend to secure further evictions.

One landlord is represented as saying: "The Government is behind this. Tho people must pay or quit,"

The Rent Tribunal instituted through tho efforts of Mr David Kirkwood, M.P. (Labour), broke down as a result of the landlords' insistence uppu postwar rents, which the tenants maintain cannot be paid out of current wages. A special meeting of the Glasgow City Council has been summoned for to-day.
