SCOTTISH SOCIETY'S CONCERT.

. The Scottish Society's twenty-third annual gathering- of the ■ Clans was marked by a concert in it© Society's looms last Eight. There was a crowded attendance of members and of the public, Chief J. S. Chisholm presiding. As is customary at these gatherings, there was " a distribution of heather frae Bonnie Scotland," each spring- had attached, to it a tag- with the name and address of the person who forwarded' it, the recipient being requested to acknowledge receipt of the sprig by means of a picture postcard. An excellently ararnged programme was submitted, the Society's tipe Band opening with a selection of Scottish aira. The other items on. the programme were as follows:—National Ode ("Scots Wha, Hae"), Mr Leslie Fleming; song, "Blue Bella of Scotland," Mrs W; Pearce; Highland Fling,. Master Trevor Campbell; recitation, Master ,Dave Dickson; eong, "Doon the burn," Miss Carris Hoare; Seann Tribhais, Miaa Mv Grigor; song,, "The Battle of Stirling,"' Mr 'W. J. Richards; song, "Oh, for the Bloom of My -Ain Native Heather," Mrs A. W. MacGillivray; Reel o' Tulloch, Misses N,' Chisholm r M. Neate, B. Bruce and K. Walton; Sailor's Hornpipe, Miss. B. Peddie; song, "My Ain Folk," Mrs W. D. Stallard; .song, s"Blue Bonnets Over the' Border,'? Mr Leslie Fleming; Gillie Calum, Miss B. Craig; song, "Old Scotland, I Love Thee," Miss • Jessie o.' King; recitation, "Mro T&dd Disna Fash Her Heid," Rev. Clyde Carr; Irish Jig, Miss D. Bruce; duet, ''Oh, ,Wer't Thou in the Cauld Blast," Mrs end Miss Stallard; and International Reel, Misses Di Bruce, M. Aitken,. B. Cr&ig, D. Philips,on. The accompaniments for the vocalists wero played by Mrs E. A. Smith. . A second concert will "be given tlis»evening, when different items,' "mnstly Scottish," 'will be given by those who contributed to last night's programme.
