Negotiations sue now proceeding by which it is hoped a system of cooperative coal getting will be inaugurated fix tho - Hikurangi Coal Company's mine to provide employment for the 57 miners who were recently given a fortnight's notice because of the high cost ,of production combined with a slackness of orders (states the "New Zealand Herald")* In the meantime .the. notices. of th,e, germination of employment have been -suspended and should - the negotiations come to a satisfactory conclusion these men will be given an opportunity of forming parties to take out the coal under the contract system.
