[PrBLBHXD DT ABBAKGESaMT.3

A NOTABLE FARMERS* BUSINESS j The North Canterbury Sheepfaraers' I Freezing Company are again to tho fore [ with an exhibit of products from their works at Kaiapoi. Nothing, indeed, is a more practical demonstration of the advantages of co-operation than is the success that has attached itself to this "Sheepfarmers' " Company. From a small beginning, in mos£ difficult times, step by step the Company has gone on. Its object was to secure to producers full valne for their stock, and to insure them against abnormal conditions being used for their exploitation. In both it lias succeeded. Tho Company itself is, guided and owned by sheepfarmera and those interested in stock. It works for the interests of tho farmers, who are its clients as well as its owners, and from the sheep-farming community it deserves, as it is gaining, the greatest support. How well that support is merited and how loyally tho Company j is fulfilling it 9 self-imposed duty to tho j producer is so well known that further j comment is unnecessary. Its exhibits j on the ground are outstanding proofs of its ability to prepare the farmers' output in the best manner possible for the market. In proof of tho success achieved by this Company, it may bo said that on several occasions, la«t year, products from their works; in the faco of world competition, topped the London Markets, and of higher praise there can be none. The following unsolicited comment from a London firm very favourably known in New Zealand speaks for itself:— . • "After careful examination, we are pleased to state that tho quality and general get-up of these carcases left nothing to be desired; ;in fact, they were tire best and most level lot of lambs wo have seen this season from New Zealand."

Thus has the Farmers' Freezing Company forged ahead. No finer exhibits in the world may be seen than are in this show of 1924, as exhibited by the N.C.F. Company. The lambs are topped off to the nick, and are an excellent illustration of what is required by the English consumer, and the class of export required to maintain the great reputation that has been gained by "Prime Canterbury. " Then in their by-products the Company is also scoring successes. It was hot many years ago that they showed in tho same place a fine assortment ot pelts, tallow, and wool. It was an initial effort, but one that has borne great, fruit. Year after, year, the produets havo shown an advance in quality and havo attracted more and more attention, both locally and overseas. Today the N.C.F. brand stands second to none in New Zealand. It is an exhibit weir worth studying, as tho efforts of a Company bent on serving in every possible way the interests of its clients. It serves the farmers' interests in other ways also. . In tho preparation of Manures the Company is gaining an unrivalled reputation. The number of farmers using its manures has redoubled in the last twelve months. All those who have tried theso manures speak in the highest praise of the excellent results achieved by their use. The manure is rich in nitrogen and phosphates, and besides stimulating the field activity it builds up and permanently improves the ground on which it is used. The exhibit of bacon and hams will undoubtedly attract the attention of all, as the excellent quality of the "Harp"; brand is so well and favourably known. It is permanently established in both Australia and England, and . neither locally nor overseas has tho snnpremacy of its "cure" been seriously chair lenged. In the work that the North Canterbury Freezing Company has done,, and is still doing, for the primary producer, in its growth, and in its success, it has a record of which it may be justifiably proud. Tho outstanding success achieved by this Company shows what can be done by true co-operation in a business owned by farmers, and controlled by their nominees whose interests are identical with those of tho farming community.
