GENERAL MANAGER OF RAILWAYS.
MR M'VILLY TO RETIRE IN MARCH. (srsciAL TO "THX FEEJB.") AYELLINGTON, November 12. Mr R. W. MeVilly, General Manager of the New Zealand Railways, will retire from tho Government service at tho end of tho financial year—in March next.
Mr McVilly, who was bora in Otago, joined the Railway Department in 1880, so that by the time ho retires he will have seen forty-five years' service. He was Assistant-General Manager under Mr 10. H. Hiley, and succeeded liim as General Manager in 1917, when Mr Hilev returned to England. Mr McVilly has always taken a keen interest in athletics, specially in rowing and boxing. It is possible that the position of General Manager may not be immediately filled on Mr McVilly's retirement.
