The world's largest . lifeboat has been launched at Now Brighton on the Mersey. She is the latest and mo3t powerful type of motor lifeboat to be built by the Royal Nationgl Lifeboat Inatifcution, being the first in its fleet of over 40 motor lifeboats to depend eolely on motor power. She has_ two 80 h.p. engines, each in a separata water-tight engine-room two cabins, where the shipwrecked can be given hot refreshments; eccommodation in all for about 160 people, a searchlight, a linethrowing gun, and as many water-tight comp&Ttmeirfs as a modern battle-cruiser, 6o that she is practically unsinkable.
