H©'recommended that the Council' instituto legal proceedinga undor the Act-against the proprietor. Tha .report was received, and it was decided''to carry out th 6 inspector's recommendations. i The chairman of the District Highways Council ~ wrote advising that a meeting 01 the Council would be held in Christchurch oil November 18th, btatocl that the Council. would--b$ prepared to meet a representative from tbo Borough Council __to discuss recommendations regarding atandards "of-construction a'nd the purchaso of plant; The Mayor was appointed 33 the Councils representative-at the--meeting. • ~ . Kaiapoi Beautifying Association asking that the Council' take steps 'to replenish the north side of the Beach road poplar ayenut, tho Association being prepared to supervise, the planting; alio suggesting that tho watering scheme for tho war memorial plot'.bo carried out. ■'■'■■■■. , •'lt was docided to allocate a-, sum in. neit year's estimates' for the purpose. m " " ■ Messrs W. Clarke and B~ AV-. Wylie submitted jiians of proposed dwellings to be erected at "The Pines," and -Messrs J. B. Simpson and L. Collins gubpiitted plans of a dwelling to be erected at Kairaki. The plans wore approved. . The " Reserves Committee ' recommended that the Kaiapoi Domain be advertised as available for picnics, and that the price charged be £1 10s, with, iiot water provided, and that fenders bo invited for the right to sell 60ft drinks and confectionery oh picnio days; TJIO committee/ also- recommended that tho Kaiapoi Association Football Club bfe allowed to take . out toi • toi bushes ■ and silver birch trees interfering with their playing ground, -on condition- that they cany out the planting- of sjx additional cilver birch trees at the opposite, end; The recommendations'-were approved. ■'The-financial statement - showed receipts since last ■ .meeting. £79 15s1 Id, debit bank balance £3Bl '6s .'id, accounts passed for payment '£74 12s 4d.; ' ' , The Seaside Reserves Committco reported thnt 'the Town' Clerk had been instructed to ha\-e'fepair? carried'cut to the launch landing at Kairaki., Tho committee reported that 'they had no 'recommendation to make with reference to Mr .A.
