WAR MEMORIAL.
NEW BRIGHTON PROPOSAL.
A public meeting was held in the Joyland Theatre, New Brighton, last night, to consider the erection of a war memorial in the borough. The Mayor (Mr J. Gamble) presided over a good attendance. The following resolutions were carried unanimously:— "That a memorial be erected in memory of those who fought and fell in tie Great War." "That the memorial be of a nonutilitarian nature." "That the nccesaary funds be obtained by voluntary contribution." "That other details, inc.ln (".**> the collecting campaign, be left in the hands of the committee to arrange." A strong committee was set up, ineluding the Mayor and councillors, the ministers of the several local churches, representatives of the various sports bodies. Cadets. Gir! Guides, Boy Scouts, and other local organisations.
