CRICKET ON CUP DAY.
GAMES TO BE PLAYED. At last week's special meeting of the Management Committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association, the question of playing, or otherwise, on New Zealand Cup Day (next Saturday) was discussed. Various arguments, for and against, were put forward, and finally it was decided to refer the matter to the next meeting, which took place last night. The chairman (Air W. Simpson) said that four of the senior clubs had favoured playing, the other two being against playing on the day in question. To test the feeling of the meeting Mr W. L. King moved that cricket should be played on Cup Day, in view of the fact that week-end weather recently had been so adverse.
Afte.r discussion the motion was put to the vote and carried on the voices.
