(BT CABLE-- IT.ESS ASSOCIATION—COrYIUGUT; OTTAWA, October 31. Someone planted a time-bomb in a Canadian Pacific Railway sleeping catwhile crossing British Columbia lastnight. When it exploded in the early morning six passengers were killed and the train was wrecked.

Police investigations showed that the bomb was dircted against Peter Veregin. who was amon.i thoso ki/led. Another victim was a member of the Provincial Legislature, and others wero prominent people. Veregin was 70 years of age. and was one of the most picturesque figures in Western Canada. A quarter of a century ago he came from Furope loading a colony of 70,000 Doukhohors, who were driven out of Southern Russia. They settled first on prairie lands in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, but had much difficulty with the authorities because of their proclivity for marching nude through the countryside whenever they had a grievance against tho Government. Ton years ago they removed into the fruitgrowing district of British Columbia, a.nd became excellent settlers. Veregin was literally their king, but recently he lost hold .against some of the younger leaders. Tho police believe that one of these planted the bomb in a valise and very effectively removed him.
