CONCILIATION COUNCIL.

MILLINERS AND DRESSMAKERS. A silting of the Conciliation Council 'was held yesterday morning, in the matter of the industrial • dispute between the Christelm rah Dress and Mintlo Makers and Milliners' Union, and various firms of Christchurch. The Conciliation Commissioner, Mr W. H. Hugger, presided. The union was represented by Misseo E. Shirrefis (dressmaker), G. Capstick (milliner), and Mr T*. B. Cooke, and the employers by Hessrs F. Cresswell, E. E. Hartley, and H. V. Ftcc. . A total of about 130 employers in Christchurch, Ashburton, Tima.ru, and other centres in tho Canterbury industrial district were cited. The employees' demands included ft request for a 44-hour wsek.
