METHVEN RACING CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the MTcthven Racing Club was held in the A. and P. room. Mr 11. Green presided, and there were also present; Messrs W. J. Cooksley, D. McNamara, Jas. Manger, Thos. Maguire, R. Henderson, and A. W. McKendry. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs .S. G. Holmes, T. S. Harrison, J. MeAnulty, and C. Nordquist A. motion of sympathy was passed to Mcssra Harrison. Holmes, and Nordquist, who were absent on account of sickness.

Mr J. IT. Tompkins wrote accepting' the portion of starter ior both trots' and gallops at the fcrthcoreing meeting. Mr H. It. Sellers, secretary of the N.Z. Racing Conference, wrote enclosing the amended rule dealing with the disocsal of the club's assets. M-eiPrn F. B. Robilliard and 11. G. Shearman wrote acce.ptin<f positions as time, keepers. A letter was received from Mill. J. Knight advising that he would bo unable to accept the position of clerk of scales, and recommending that Mr Clothier bo appointed. It was decided to appoint Mr tlo-lhkr to bite position. The Canterbury Jockey Club tatd the N.Z. Trotting Association wrote advising that the programme had 'been approved subject to minor alterations. Mr IT. S. S. Kylo advised that he would bo pleased to accept the appointment as %-ctsrmary surgeon to the club. An application was received from the Methveii Caledonian Society applying for the v U,so of the racecourse for their annual sports meeting on January 10th next. It was decided to grant the request under the usual conditions, with a recommendation tha.t the outside track bo used. The Methven. Golf Club wrote enclosing a donation for the use of the race-course during tha past year. Messrs Green, Harrison, and Cooksley were appointed a sub-committee to interview representatives of the Golf Club, with a view to making suitable arrangement] for next season, Mesflra E. A. Bland and Chas. Cran were elected members of the club. Messrs Cooiksley, Mauger, and McKendry were appointed a sub-committee to attend to improvement? to the seven furlongs starting place. It was mentioned that trie road at the entrance to the cour3c was in a bad state, and the secretary was instructed to write to the Road Board asking for improvements to be effected before the meeting.
