BOWLING.
OPAWA CLUB. In the C Section of the Pennants Competition the following will represent Opawa against Linwood, at- Opawa:—Wicka, Maddren, Robbins, Archbold (s); Mapplobeck, Pearce, Rawnsley, Jaques (s); Jones, Weakley, Lee, Lucas («). ASHBURTON SUB-CENTRE. A meeting' of the Ashburton Sub-Centre was held in Mcthven. There were present: Messrs John Watson (chairman), Robilliajd, Stubb3, Madden, Wright, MoNamara, Nickolls, J. Watson, and G. Cookson. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £l4 15a 3d. Mr Watson referred to tho loss sustained through the death of Mr Blackley, and on his motion a vote of sympathy was passed to tho relatives, tl*ose present standing in silence for a few moments. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. A letter was received from the Mcthven Club intimating their withdrawal from the pennant competition. .The president pointed out that the Bristol Cup matches interfered with the competition, hut this could not be avoided as the matches had to be played very shortly after a challenge was received. As the Bristol Cup matches were for eight rinks, it was impossible for tho Methven Club to play them and the pennant games simultaneously. After some discussion it was decided on the motion of Messrs Wright and McKamara that the pennant competition he discontinued for this season.
The election of officers for tho ensuing l year resulted as follows:---President, Mr H. A. Nickolls; vice-president, Mr G. 8. Hardy; secretary, Ifr G. Cookson. It was decided to give a trophy valued at £2 2a to tho winner of the champion singles competition, and also to arrange for trophies for the winners of tho Gala Cup.
