CYCLING.
BROOKSIDE CLUB. For the first 14-mile road raco held this season by the Brookside Cycling Club, nineteen entries were received, and seventeen riders started. The race resulted as follows : G. Croat (2imin), 37min 29scc. .. 1 A. Ramsey (2jmin), 37min 30aec .. 2 A. Baroett (lmin), 38min iGsec .. 3 Fastest time, T. Ellis, 3Cmin 15scc. I'irst rider undr.r 18 to finish, C. Teale, S9min 16sec.. Tho next rao wi'l be a 14-mile Derby for riders 18 years cf age and under. Three trophies have been offered for placed men, and a gold medal for tho rider making fastest time. On the evening of the road race, a concert was held in the Brookside school under' the auspices of the Cycling Club. AJmost, evory seat was occupied, and an excellent programme by Beath's Concert Party w enjoyed. Items were* given by Misses" Harbutt, Vera Harris, Clara Willman, JCcC'aw, Joyce Staff, and by Messrs Frank McDonald, T. Hales. J. Heaiey, T. Anderson, and G. May. Tho road race prizes were presented by the president of the Cycling Club, Mr E. I*. O. Winter, who also thanked the audience for their patronage.
