Billiards. The Lyttolton Grub's weekly flying fifty billiard tournament on Monday night was won by R. Berry, who beat' li 1 . Collins in the final game. Tlie Pictures. Tho English sporting drama-romanoo, "Stablo Companions," was shown to a well filled house at tho Harbour Light Theatro leat evening. Tho piogrammo included a Larry S'emon comedy, "Tho Barnyard," and a furlhor episode of "Tho Oregon Trail," and will be repeated to-night. To-morrow, "Sherlock Holmes," a- ecreen version of Constt Doyle's famous detective story, with John Barrymoro in tho title- role, will be ocrecned, with a. good supporting programme. Magistrate's Coarfc. Mr F.G. Norton, J.P., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. Frank Pinkard and George Beecher, firemen on p.a. Essex, -were chiTgcd with absenting themselves without leave from tho veoael at Auckland on January 18th and 19th respectively. - John ifooney, also »■ fireman on tho same vessel) was charged with deserting at Aupklopd on January 19th. Oil the application of Acting-Detectivo M. Hodgins, tho acouscd were remanded in custody until Fobruary 12th.
