DESTITUTE FAMILIES.
BUSINESS MAN'S GENEROUS ACTION. That there is a good deal of distress in ChrLstchtireh at the present time was very evident from the discussion that took place at the annual mooting of the Social Welfare Gu:ld yesterday. One pleasing feature of the meeting, however, was the number of instances of generous assistance in the Guild's activities. Ono local busine.e man told the president that it she sent representatives of forty destitute families to him he would provide each with a supply of fish and rabbits. The president sent the people she selected aiong, provided with baskets and paper. Their behaviour was so pleasing, and their gratitude so evident, that the gentleman in question, who desired that his name should not be disclosed, has asked tor the names of the forty families, and had promised to keen them supplied throughout the winter?
