"BISHOP" LEADBEATER.

TO THE EDITOR OF "THE FRESS." Sir,—Would you be so good as to publish in your columns the following extract from the Sydney "Daily Telegraph," of May 18th, 19" 2? I ask this merely as common justice to Mr Leadbeater the central figure of the Sydney tneosophical fracas. Thia ie the extract:—

"Mr Gustaf. Kollerstrom, one of the oldest Sydney theosoplmts, called at the office "of "The Daily Telegraph' yesterday and made the following statement:—"'For many years Bishop Leadbeater has been an honoured guest it my home, and he has educated my sou and several young men there. He is held in the highest esteem by all those voting men. We have always found liim a man of stainless purity, and of the highest moral nature, both in thought and act. Bishop Leadbeater was a Church of England clergyman) when 35 years ago lie began the study of theosophy. He is our foremost teacher and writer, and, he possesses a deeper knowledge of nature's hidden forces than anyone in the world. To attack the moral character of ai great man has in all ages been the easiest and mo«t efficient weapon wielded by the misguided. He has probably suffered more than anyone from scurrilous, slanderous, and baseless accusations. Before a court at Madras, some 11 years ago, a judee could find no fault with the man. He is 75 years of age, and is regarded with love and reverence by thousands of theosophists all over the world. The people who are throwing the mud are not worthy to wash his feet. Bishop Wedgwood has also been a frequent guest in my home, and although he, too, has sufferedfrom slanderous utterances, nothing can be proved against him. JNo right-thinking person in our society believed a word of those slanders.' "—lours, etc., G. E. LANDER. Fendalton.
