MARS AND THE MOON.
TO THE EDITOR OF "THE TRESS." , Sir,—The Astronomical Notes in your issue of to-day have raised a doubt in my mind. I read that Mars (54 million miles distant) is to be observed by a mighty telescope that will apparently bring its Burfaoe within a mile artd a-half or so from the earth. What I am worried about is this: If yon can do that with Mars, ono trembles to think what would happen if the moon (a. mere 40.000 miles away) were brought into the range of the instrument.—Yours, etc.. SUB-LUNAR. May 30th.
