MOTOR-CYCLING

RELIABILITY TEIAL. A motor-cycle reliability trial to Akaroa and back was hold or Saturday under the auspices of the Pioneer Sports. Club. The total distance was 136 miles, 82 miks out and 51 miles by the return route. Twenty-iour riderj lelt the Pioneer Club ut 5 45 a.m. for Akaroa via Lyttelton and Teddington, arriving at their destination about J.l a.m. The Joi.lt roads were in very bad order, and chains were generally used in negotiating the steep places. 'JLhe return journey waa commenced at 12.3 i} p.m., the finishing point, at the foot of Dyer's Pass road, being reached about 4 p.m. No untoward accidents occuied throughout tho trial, though some of the competitors experineced various engine troubles, and a few in both solo and side-car sections were unable to complete the course. The results will not be known for about a week, as the judge, Mr R. H. Parker, has a great deal of work to do in, calculating tho times, allowing for stoppages, etc. The following riders started in the Bidecar section: G. Lambert (7-9 h.p. Indian)— Observer, A. W.
