SHIBLEY CLUB. Tho monthly Medal Hatch was played at Shirley on Saturday, under stroke conditions. Ths senior division was won by W. 3. KAGLEY CLUB. The Hagiey Golf Club opened its on Saturday with a Mixed Foursome for the. Opening Day Challenge Cup. The fairways were in good order, and, tun recent alterations to the course were much appreciated by the players, of whom there were about ,one hundred. The winners were Miss Bruce and Stevenson, with 2 down. The best of the other cards handed in were:—Miss N. Knight and Harman, 3 down; Miss Kitto and Morrison i down; Miss Boulnois and Montgomory, 6 down; Mie3 Newton and Irwin, G down: Miss Morton and Laurie, 6 down; Mr and Mrs Hutton, 6 down. RICHMOND HILL CLUB. The opening of the season of the Hiehmond Hill Golf Club toolc place on Satur. day afternoon, under ideal conditions. The recent rains greatly improved the greens, while tha fairway wa3 in good condition. Thero was a large attendance of membero and frierds. The president of the club, Mr W. F. Raphael, expressed pleasure at seeing so many present. He stated that the prospects for the coming season were excellent, and ho made reference to the condition of the greens, which reflected great credit on the green superintendents, Messrs J. M. H. Crawford and F. C. Malpas. He then declared tho season open. A Mixed Foursomes Competition, over nine holes wa-s then played, over forty playere taking part. At Pir.ehurst Kirkwcod amazed the gallery in ita first round of the .North ar.d South tournament with a - miraculous shot, at the first hole. His drive landed in the iree3 off tie fairway. Ths ball was so placed that it was impassible to take a. mhi-har.deu swing for his second. Kirk-.vood took a mas-hio in Iris left hand and using the back of the blade drove ISO yards. Later H'ajen duplicated the feat. Kirkwood's' card Hutchison is leading with 70.
