In the House of Commons Captain the Hon. \V. G. A. Ormsby-Gore, in a question, suggested the Government should consider the desirability of providing that future Allied garrisons at Gallipoli should include Australian troops. Mr Austen Chamberlain, in reply, said the Government recognised the special interest of Australia and New Zealand in Gallipoli, but it would be premature to consider the detailed arrangements until the proposed Near East Treaty was signed and ratified.
