BOROUGH COUNCILS.
AKAEOA. Tho Akaioa Borough Council met on Wednesday. Present —The Mayor (Mr Geo. Annstrong), Cra. F. E. Davis, C. W. Leet*. H. J. Barnham, W, Pool, J. D. Smith, C. Stewart, A. J. Faithfull, T. 'Wilson, and H. W. Wilkins. . In reply to the G Statistician it was Btated that inward tonnage of the port of Akaroa. for the month of February was SOJ tons, and outward 27 tons. The Chief Government Electrical Engineer WTote asking for certain returns in connexion with the municipal plant. The Public Trust Office forwarded a statement of accounts for the past 12 months in connexion with the sinking fund and sundry borough loans, Mr Jordan, Government AuditorInspector, wrote pointing out that there had been unnecessary delay in banking returns of dog tax. Tho Town Celrk gave a satisfactory explanation, which, it wa3 resolved, should be 6ent to the auditor. The Bank of New Zealand wrote in reference to' tho Council's overdraft and to tho arrangement to be made for next year 8 accommodation. It was resolved to take et-eps to procure a loan to extinguish the Councils antecedent liabilities on March 31st, 1922, and that the Mayor and the Town Clerk arrange to cash a cheque on March 31st to bring the Council's overdraft on that day up to £I2OO, such money to b« paid into the general account on April Ist. The finance report showed receipts £63 19s Id, electrio light account dr. £662 15s lOd, general account dr. £1538 Is Bd, wharves account cr. £475 18s lOd, overdraft Bank New Zealand £1724 18s £■•!, accounts for payment £385 15s 6d.
